|We are prepared for the long haul…|
|June 1 is anticipated to mark Sonoma County’s COVID-19 peak. On April 17, the Sonoma County Public Health Officer mandated face coverings when the public enters any building other than home, or when outside if unable to remain at least six feet away from others.|
Since March 15, West County Community Services (WCCS) has ramped up additional services to the most vulnerable members in our community:
• 2,700 meals for seniors, shelter residents and our neighbors experiencing homelessness
• 380 COVID-19 screenings to date at the shelter, in encampments, and on the street.
The numbers are important as they represent compassion and hope, supported by you.
But faces of those doing the work are important too: the staff members registering shelter residents each day, taking temperatures and screening for COVID-19; the shelter worker preparing cots, towels for showers, and meals each night; and the Senior Center staff shopping and preparing meals for senior food deliveries and pickup, and food bags for outreach workers.
Some of the staff pictured below have been with WCCS for 20 years, others a few months. But we all share a commitment to empowering our community, one person at a time. Thank you for your continued support. It makes a real difference, especially for the long haul.
